We recently started a driveway renovation project for a client in NY and posted our progress photos on Facebook which got us thinking… There are so many driveway design ideas out there that we thought we’d share some driveway design tips based on the style of your home.

For coastal homes, choose colors that compliment a beach setting such as ocean blues and sandy beiges. Adding natural textures such as flagstone or slate will accent your overall beachside look.

For farmhouse style homes, choose warm, natural colors that mimic nature – russet reds, woodsy browns and forest greens. Natural textures also work well for this style of home.

For cottage homes, mix styles and textures for a look that accents this craftsman-inspired style and choose colors that echo your home’s exterior palette.

For ranch homes, a more creative or complex driveway style can be used to play off the simple style of the ranch home. Have fun by using colors and textures that compliment the style of the home’s interior.

For Victorian homes, a subtle approach is best. Using soft colors and textures will highlight the home’s ornate exterior features.

For colonial style homes, use decorative stones or concrete to accent the central main entrance. A symmetrical design within the driveway design can accent the grandeur of this type of home.

For modern design homes, a polished, minimal design is best. Choose colors that accent the home’s exterior and textures that don’t draw attention away from the home.
