Three Types of Walkway Lighting to Fit Your Needs
The purpose of walkway lighting is two-fold: it provides a level of safety to paths and walkways while giving your home's exterior an ambiance throughout the evening. Depending on your personal taste and needs, there are three types of walkway lighting you can consider.
Incandescent Lighting
This type of landscape lighting gives off a soft, warm glow and provides a more balanced light for your paths and walkways without troublesome glare or hot spots. It is a very popular lighting option and comes in many shapes and sizes - from tall lanterns to mushroomed footlights and everything in between.
LED Lighting
This type of landscape lighting tends to give off a more industrial, clean white glow. You can find LED pathway lighting in many shapes and sizes, and it performs well in modern decorative containers - spheres, cubes, art glass - or in recessed lighting that peeks out from the ground.
Solar Powered
Although solar powered lighting is also incandescent lighting, it really deserves its own category. When you think about walkway lighting, solar lights is most likely what comes to mind. Solar lights are recharged by sunlight each day to light walkways at night and although they do not use electricity, their glow does tend to fade throughout the evening as they lose their charge. Solar powered lights are a good choice for a homeowner that wants lighted paths without any fuss since they don't have to be turned on and off each day.
